Any reason why an aircraft won't take off?[marked]
« on: June 08, 2017, 03:24:36 PM »

Here's a video of what I'm experiencing:  https://youtu.be/UACcYP1-2i8

This is a fairly popular aircraft I downloaded from planet-explorers-isos.com.  I hop in and it responds just fine to controls.  The rotors, lights, and weapons all respond as they should.  One problem:  It won't leave the ground!  I've tried moving it from place to place, tried restarting the game, and nothing seems to make a difference.  It moves when I run into it so I don't think it's stuck in the ground.  Any ideas, fellow explorers?

I haven't used that particular aircraft, but the rotors look pretty tiny. It may have worked in the Alpha and Beta, but I think they'll need to be enlarged now.

That was what I experienced with my own aircraft - It barely lifted in the release and was very slow until I nearly doubled the diameter.

By enlarging them, do you mean resizing them somehow in the creation tool, or do you mean that I need to add more?

Resizing them in the editor should work.

The main reason it is this, I just know it.

Does this one work for you (I use them all the time in PE) http://planet-explorers-isos.com/planet-explorers/iso-details-mla3-solo-explorer-770.html

If it does then as before you'll need to add more thrust to the downloaded iso be adding thrusters, more VTOLs or making the VTOLs larger in diameter. If it doesn't I'd suggest making a bug report

Almost any vehicle that you find pre-made will need to be tweaked.  The dynamics/physics of nearly all vehicles has changed over time, and the older the ISO, the more likely you will need to update it before it will work (the way it did before).

They all do give you a nice head-start for the editor, though, and shouldn't be frowned upon.  It is still much, much faster than starting from scratch.  The two things to be careful when editing aircraft are hover speed (should be as close to zero as you can get it) which depends on the balance of the aircraft (center of gravity), and the forward angle at top speed (which could drive the craft into the ground if it isn't level).

Secondary things would be turn speed (side-facing rotors/jets) and climb speed (vertical rotors/jets).
