Suggestion: boost the art with a Levels filter
« on: March 02, 2018, 10:04:15 PM »

Hello, lovely game, enjoying it truly, what I enjoy even more is that this game has my favorite artstyle (Handpainted) buuuut I think whatever is responsible for the post processing is off, because everything is covered in a white 'filter' and it's just not doing your artists hard work any justice. It has a real simple fix, just chek your Levels, its like basic photography really. Gamma is also an option but I found Levels to have a more colorful effect.

For this example I used 1 preset, to keep it consistent but I Imagen you guys have more control at individual places, times and weather styles. (inserting images is not working so you'll have to open links, sorry bout that)

Artistically, the white filter gives everything a softer, pastel watercolor kind of look. But I agree the clarity of removing the whiteness makes details easier to see.  For older people like me with failing vision, it is easier on the eyes when that is removed.  I'm not sure how it will affect the mood for everyone else though.  I know that there is a certain "mood" or "feel" that they were going for, and so I don't know if this violates their artistic view or enhances it.

If this change were made, I think it would affect my enjoyment of the game in a positive way, but it is not critical for my enjoyment of the game. It would be like adding a lighting enhancement mod to Skyrim (which I did do).  I love the game either way, but I love it more with the lighting enhancement.

Maybe this could be some kind of toggled effect in the game options.

I personally quite like the effect of images after moderations.  :) Have passed all the images and your suggestions to the devs. Thanks! (Actually we've been thinking about how to moderate the lightings so the game looks finer.
