I've seen this mentioned by a number of other people, and I agree, I think it would be great if villager names (or better, their face icons) were shown on the map outside of quests. That way we don't have to learn villager's schedules to find out where they are at specific time/day or run around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to locate them. It would certainly make gifting easier!
