Planet Explorers General Discussion / About buildings and templates

Quick question for the devs.

With the upcomming addition of pre-designed buildings and templates, will we be able to modify these buildings once placed in the world.

I.e snip a voxel here in the corner, and another snip here and there. Maybe I want a hallway made of gold chaining the different buildings together...

(and I apologize if this has been asked, I couldn't find it in searches)

Curious to get a reply from the devs themselves as to what (if any) future plans they have to integrate support for the Oculus Rift VR, or if its even possible with their game.

I know you guys want to test features etc first, perhaps further down the road something like that going to be on the cards? I've heard its easy to get games ready for the Oculus.

HI All,

I'm running an Sapphire HD5850 1gb, and am noticing that playing the game is using pretty much 100% of the cards load, and boy does that make my fans loud as the temp rises past 78c.

Just to point out, no other game puts this much load on the card, I can crank the following games at very high quality as an example KSP, MineCraft, Tomb Raider 2013, Tera, Rift, Dishonored etc etc, so I know its nothing 'wrong' with my card (albeit its a tad old now, still cranks baby!).

My experience in the past with very high GPU temps (I learnt this from SWTOR) is that enabling VSYNC removes a crapload of stress from the GPU.

So the point of this thread, I'm asking if there is a way I can force VSYNC for this game, I think this will shut off a good portion of the load, and reduce overall noise.

System Specs
CPU: AMD 1055T @ 2.8ghz (six core cpu)
RAM: Ripjaw 1666mhz 8gb x 2 (dual channel)
O/S: Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit)
Hard Drive: O/S is on SSD 128gb Plextor, games on a WD Black Edition 1TB drive

Yes those of you who just want to say 'oh old crap card, upgrade and you'll be fine', well yes one day I will, but only when it starts playing games like ****.

Edit: Already forced Vsync in the CCC Control, maybe I just have to put up with it lol, and put some headphones on...the mrs hates it though :(

Problem Isolated and fixed: The issue was in the Anti-Aliasing, when its above anything other than 0, the GPU not CPU load is increased to abnormal thresholds. Setting it down, and everything else back to Max and I'm running at 66% - highest was 73% load during the daytime with sun effects etc. Temps are much better and I have a happy wifey

Well I decided to  get of my loaf, leave the safe fortifications I call home, and venture back out to the Northern areas to complete some quests that've been sitting around for about a day.

To be honest, I've been putting this off, for one simple reason.....the monsters there scare the hell out of me

I mean, just look at some of these nasty things I had to deal with! I know a couple of these are friendly and which are not, I know the birds wanna eat me thats for sure, they are HELL nasty, I mean dayum, I thought those flying wolf things were bad, this takes the cake...

Also those Giraffes, dont trust them in big groups, they hella nasty, I stay away from em.

I dont have any pictures here, but those fire breathing bears, god, I couldn't hit F12 for the life of me, the fight was all kiting lol.

But after all that, I finished chens quest and got steel shield / sword, now to figure out where to get the materials from

Edit: Pictures were removed, they weren't showing via photobucket...darn it...ill find another way...
Edit 2: I'm a wally, it was stone he gave me, not steel, buuummmeeerrr

Planet Explorers Bugs / Bug - Furniture Movers / Flippers

Bug: Sometimes placed furniture will be moved if you leave the area and come back, usually there is an NPC around, potentially they are causing collision with the object (in this case bed) and are moving stuff around/flipping stuff.

Reproduction: Place a bed, walk around for a bit, come back, if your shizz is flipped over then blame Agatha, because thats what I did :P

Comments: When I walk into beds / objects like a spazzed maniac, this doesn't happen, maybe its unique to NPC's.

Bug: Placed torches can disappear into the voxel, will appear if you mine it out (sometimes does, sometimes doesn't).
Reproduction: Make a long stone wall (doesn't have to be stone), wait til dark, place torches, some will be visible whilst others not

Bug: When changing equipment there is a massive drop or pause in the game while it swaps your weapon over, lasts for about 1 or 2 full seconds, then game goes back to normal once the item becomes equipped
Reproduction: Equip an item, say a wooden sword, watch how long it takes to load the weapon, swap to something else, say a wooden shovel, it still takes quite a while, now switch back to the wooden sword again, same thing, lags.
Additional Comments: This is not limited to just wooden equipment (any equip-able item, incl armor/clothing)

I haven't seen anyone else post about this issue yet, the game sound and music still plays, so its something with the animations waiting for the item to generate and equip i'm guessing.

Obviously I can't attach a screenshot showing the time delay...sorry..

Planet Explorers Bugs / Bug - NPC's Jumping Over Fortifications

Bug: NPC's are trying to jump over player mode fortifications, leaving their area of relative safety
Reproduction: Make a big wall around the Dr's camp and see what happens, the NPCs seem to have a set walking path, and if thats blocked then well...they jump!
Edit: This only happens with Chen Zen, thanks to Malus for confirming this!

Sorry for making separate posts for each bug, my experience from other games is that devs prefer this, that way things are easier to track.

Problem: Running up to a placed fence and jumping will cause a 'superjump' of sorts, similar to how the doors send you flying.
Reproduction: Place a fence (one will do) and run up to it and hit jump, you'll go much much higher than normal.
Possible Fix: Don't jump on fences, I mean seriously, who does that :P

Screenshot attached, btw the impact killed me.

Edit: Sorry for making separate posts for each bug, my experience from other games is that devs prefer this, that way things are easier to track.

Edit 2: Just running up to a fence will cause a super jump, no need to hit jump lol, died again darn it.

Problem: While aiming and running with a bow, the characters running animation is running to the right, instead of where she is actually pointing. Also when you exit out of the shooting mode with a Right click, you'll end up not facing where you were aiming, but the direction the character would have been facing, based on the position of her legs (she runs to the right).

Attempts to fix the problem: I've tried to straighten my character prior to firing (so she is actually facing the target), this helps to aleviate the issue of her not facing the right way when exiting the shooting mode, but her animations while running with the bow are all still wrong.

How to make it worse / replicate (yes I know): Find an animal, do a 180degree turn to face away from it, enter shooting mode, turn around and kill the animal, right click to exit shooting mode, and voilla, where the heck are we looking? certainly not at the animal lol. This also happens if your at say a 90degree angle, but no matter what the angle is, her run animation is wrong.

Also just some feedback, you guys should increase your size limits on your screenshots, I cannot upload even a cropped JPEG of this bug, as its 312kb, this was very frustrating for me after all the effort I went in to document this.

Planet Explorers General Discussion / My exploration story

Well I built up my base camp, decided to not put a door in this time, lined up the walls around the dr's crash site, and put a mass of Long Range Cannons & basic cannons.

Thought I was the bees knees, in all my iron weaponry, and newly outfitted armor from where the meteorite site is, my favourite weapon is the iron bow, much easier than swinging a sword I reckon (is it just me or do swords miss a lot?).

Anyway onto my story, so I was continuing on with my story quest, up the the great tree in the north east, and DAYUM did I get my hiney handed to me, I got such a beating I ran back the other way with my tail between my legs going 'hmmm hmmm', i ran back to try again and just skipped between the violent creatures as they tried to chase me down.

I beat that quest, and even managed to complete the tower defense part of the story with ease (I think they still broke a turret or two though, even tho they were high up, probably those stinkin birds!).

Out of all the enemies I hate most, I hate those Devil Wolfs!! terrifying, more terrifying than spiders, and omg so much hp lol.

Did I maybe miss a quest chain to get steel armour or somthing? I'm wearing some basic leather stuff atm.

Anyways, I had a blast, can't wait to get back into it tomorrow, I haven't had this much fun in so long.

Planet Explorers General Discussion / Door / Structure Placement

Hi All,

I'm new to the game, i'm building up my first little dirt fort and put the door in last, I couldn't figure out how to rotate it so I just plonked it down, and now its facing the wrong way!

I've tried to right click the door (that just opens it), tried hitting it with my wooden axe out of frustration (lols I know) and also tried the voxel deleting thingy, is it stuck there forever??

I suppose this would apply to any furniture too, as I've noticed I cant move my bed either and I'm not happy with its orientation.
