I did a search but I couldn't find anything, is there a reason to keep your power plants powered all the time? It isn't used to keep the shield up is it?

So I was doing the fish parts mission and I thought I literally had to dig underwater in order to find the fish bone (silly me). In doing so however, I discovered that the water physics work a little similarly to Terraria. If you dig straight down a ways, then dig straight sideways for a few blocks then dig up, you will create a little air pocket where you can safely breathe.

The idea of an underwater base was the first thing to come to mind. I don't necessarily have the time to do this myself, but I thought I'd mention it so that others with more skill and time could have at it and see if they like it :3

I couldn't find the bug tracker, so I will put this here. I cloned my helicopter on accident. I put it in to charge in a power station. While it was charging I built a second power station. Later I pulled my Vtol out and took it for a spin and when I got back to recharge it, there was another vtol there that I could take out, use and everything. So I said "yippee!" then promptly came here. :3

Hello all. So I played back during the .61 days and everything ran perfectly at all of the highest settings.

I started playing again recently when I got my steam key and everything lags! I have the game played on all of the lowest settings and it barely runs in a fashion that is playable. Then I got near the forest. As soon as I could see the forest the game became unplayable.

Is this as good as its going to get? Is it going to get worse as more things get added in? Or is everything not optimized yet?

I will list my comp specs but from the PC requirements listed on steam, I have more than the requirements need except for the video card which I think I am just short of having the recommended card.

I have an i7 core processor
8 gigs of ram
64 bit processor
Nvidia GeForce GT650M video Card.

So, I saw up above that Zifei said to use a bug tracker that was in the menu. I apologize, I didn't see it. Although, I do tend to miss things in plain sight.

So, every time, without fail whenever I hit quit game, the game crashes. Obviously not much of a problem, but still something to note. I noticed a lot of people having their game crash on startup instead.

also, the image for the Blaster type 01 doesn't show up. I just hold up my hands and laser beams come out. Pretty funny actually lol.


And I know others have mentioned this already, but I will go ahead and repeat it. the quest where you have to rescue the npc's from the andhera queen, one of the npc's spawns above the cave, and you end up having to dig her down through the earth back in to the cave for the quest to be complete.

I have never been a fan of trying to get my way in video games, more accurately, I try to encourage players to remember that the game is not the players vision, but the developers, and no hate should ever go towards a developer for creating a game a certain way.

On these forums, I have been reminding people that this isn't our game, it is Pathea's, and Pathea should create this game the way they want to make it according to their vision. People get in to this industry because it is supposed to be fun. It isn't fun when the players begin to think that they are correct and that the developers are wrong.

It is upsetting to think that someone was chased out of their chosen career because of some stupid unsavory people that thought they were the ones that were right.

This has been a public service announcement :-)

Planet Explorers Bugs / [DEV MARKED]Defense I sidequest

I tried doing Defense 1 (and I think someone else is having the same issue) and I took the quest, and after the time expired, no monsters showed up. So I deleted the quest and took it again, and still nothing happened. I reloaded the game and tried again, but nothing happened. So I went off for a bit and started exploring, and found this huge clump of creatures just hanging out, and they all started heading towards me when I got close, and after killing one, my monster ticker went up one. Lo and behold, I had found ALL of the monsters spawned by the quest.

Another weird thing is that when I got far enough away, all of the creatures would head right back to the point where they were hanging out.

I fast traveled to the alien ruins (getting attacked by coronas in the process, but that is unimportant :-)  ) and the amphitheater area with the steps were gone. The whole thing. The only thing left was the alien head. I'm guessing it fell through the world :3

Planet Explorers General Discussion / NPC hit points, and a question

Anybody else notice that the npc's that you can have follow you around have over twice as many hit points as we do? I know they are invincible at the moment, but I just wanted to mention that I like the emphasis there is on relying on people other than yourself for this game. Again, less of a run n gun and more towards group survival. Just a note.

Oh, and a question. I picked up two Npc's, and I recall in the last edition that they had abilities listed, essentially telling you what kind of work they could do/were good at. I can't seem to find that now, and I can't seem to get anybody to work. I know that in .53 working was limited to herb gathering or some such, I'm just wondering if it was removed entirely at the moment, or if that is limited to when you have a base built.

I think it was Adisa. It was one of those two girls. I did a side quest, and when I completed the quest she said she gave me scripts to the whole bronze armor set, and I thought "hey, thats awesome!" considering I didn't even check to see what the quest rewards would be. She gave me the leather armor scripts instead.

I already knew all of the leather armor, so it was a tad disappointing, but whatev's. Just wanted to let you know that she said bronze, when she really meant leather, or she gave leather when she should have given you bronze, but I feel that it is supposed to be leather.

I wanted to start a new thread, instead of invading the turret thread too much. And I apologize, I come out of nowhere and start posting all over the place. I hope I didn't take too many people by surprise :-)



I just wanted to talk about overall balance. In another thread, there is a discussion about turrets, and how they get placed and perhaps having field turrets, and stationary turrets. I wanted to add on to that, but also discuss other things that weren't turrets, that way we could have a space to mention everything together, where Zifei can have just one place to look when it comes to balance, instead of several threads.




In the turret thread, the current idea is having two different kinds of turrets. The stationary kind, and the field kind. I love this idea, although it also sounds like a lot of work for Zifei and his crew, but I bet some kind of middle ground could occur. One thing I noticed is that turrets don't seem to last long regardless of what they are. If the turrets don't get split in to multiple types (field and stationary) I believe they should be a little buffed up. Although, I haven't been using anything other than catapults yet (gunpowder problem) so this may not need to change at all.

Another thing I would mention is an on/off switch for turrets. Have the turrets come out disabled or something. I mostly say this because some plans have been messed up when the turrets start attacking things the second I place them (which is a hassle when I am preparing for a big fight) but that is not as big a deal.

I have a lot more to say, but I am at work. I will post more in a bit :-)

Okay, so I mentioned before that using iso's doesn't seem all that efficient anymore. At least for making swords. I made an iso for a gun, and the gun was noticeably better.

Now, I did the fire bear quest, and was able to get through that without a hitch because the fire bears wandered off. However, I did get in to a fight with one of the rhino things. the big one, not the wolf rhino, and it absolutely kicked my ass. I unloaded about 40 bullets (everything I had) and it brought it down to half health. All those bullets I bought as well because I have yet to find gunpowder either randomly, or through an npc.

After that ordeal, I made my way to the korona quest, where you have to get rid of 3. Chen says that they just need to leave the nest somehow, but the quest says I have to kill 3 of them. I don't know how possible this actually is. I got extremely lucky because one of the green rhino things was attacked by 2 of them and killed them both for me, but the last one killed me 8 times, used up all of my bullets and all of my arrows, and destroyed all of my weapon emplacements. I couldn't fast travel to get more supplies because I would have had to restart the mission, so I gathered would in order to make more catapults while chen zen sat there soaking up unlimited amounts of damage (without attacking back I might add). Then the game crashed and I quit in utter frustration.

What am I doing wrong here?

So I was playing, and I remember in .53 that it was very easy to create anything on your own and have it be instantly better than anything you could buy.

I tried doing that now with .60, and I can't seem to get it to work. Problem here being, I am using a stone sword at the moment, and trying to make an iso out of a bronze hilt, and made entirely out of iron, and yet the stone sword is still better. Did the math change for how iso's worked? Or am I just being an idiot?

Planet Explorers Bugs / [DEV MARKED] A few bugs I noticed.

Okay, so I played for a few hours today, and I noticed a couple things.

One was mentioned I believe, but for sake of completion, I will go ahead and put it here.

The game crashed when I exited.

The game also crashed when it was raining while I was attacking something. That one gave me a full on error message full of programming gobaldigook that I couldn't understand.


Also, I noticed a tiny hole that is like a perfect square, in the middle of the ground that I fell in to that leads to a cave. It looked very out of place and I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be there or not. That was at 11966, 6616.

 Also that ragdoll effect is kind of hilarious when you are chasing the stags around, because their feet will just kind of freak out as they are running.
