Planet Explorers ISOs / Re: ISO hosting site...[marked]
« on: July 08, 2017, 07:23:22 PM »
Hello,
I'm the owner of http://planet-explorers-isos.com
If you want I can improve it ! It's interesting because it has a very fast web engine and real time search.

Nexus is a well established site with years of experience hosting mods/custom content for games, their site is among the fastest loading mod sites around, with a fantastic search function, they don't require you to wait to click download either. 8 seconds (combined 5 sec and 3 sec ad pages that disable if adblock is detected  ::) ) doesn't sound like much, but when you're downloading 30+ items in a single visit to the site it adds up to be too much to bother with, frankly I'd rather not use ISO files from others if your site was the only option.

I wonder if I could build a TARDIS in the building editor...

Planet Explorers General Discussion / Re: DRM?
« on: July 08, 2013, 09:36:13 AM »
The game seems to use a single very small file for authentication, activate it on a computer that does have internet and try copying the privatekey.xml file to the one which doesn't. If that doesn't work then just copy all of the files both from the games directory and the 'My Documents/Planet Explorers/' folder, there is no actual installation so I doubt the game is tied down to the computer you activate it on.

While the email and the torrent file are legit, you need to be careful about which torrent client you install.
I had to install one just for this 0.6 thing and it wanted to install 2 or 3 other items, browser search bars or godknowswhats. =)

Indeed, I myself use Vuze as I have found minimal problems with it and it does some fancy stuff for transferring things to consoles and other devices, going by the 2 or 3 3rd party programs you were asked to install I would guess you tried utorrent. I hope I wasn't being taken as snarky, I was genuinely trying to be nice, I just have a horrible Scottishness to even my typing :-\

Planet Explorers General Discussion / Re: Question on pre orders
« on: July 08, 2013, 06:22:40 AM »
Kickstarter people and post Kickstarter pre-orders all get alpha and beta access as far as I know. I pre-ordered after the Kickstarted and I'm playing it now so yeah...and them not waiting for Steam Greenlight is what a LOT of developers do, there is no point putting anything up on Steam until it has reached at the very least beta and has a decent amount of polish. Otherwise people from Steam whine and complain about this not being in yet or that not being fully functional or the bugs or blah blah blah, Steam also take an unhealthy cut of the profits. There is only a very small fraction of indie games actually up on Steam even though a dozen or so that I am following could easily go ahead and put it up there, some have already been Greenlit and are simply holding off until they have a more improved version to put up.

I also understood the question you were asking but at least do a spell check before posting...

I used activate, it worked fine for me, try again in a little while, the server might be having problems.

I didn't even realize they had durability! :O If you need to remove them then sell them to a vendor, I'm guessing you get less for broken items if you sell them but it's a way to get rid of them I guess.

Planet Explorers General Discussion / Re: The New Launcher
« on: July 08, 2013, 06:11:23 AM »
It is very nice. Only thing that feels missing is a small loop of game music while the launcher is up. Besides that the launcher is very nice and pretty. They certainly have worked their butts off on this one.

Yeah that's exactly what's missing, it's incredibly early days though, I doubt putting music in the launcher would be high on their priority list. After playing for a while I can see a massive difference since 0.53, you can tell a lot of love is going into this game! Minor performance drop though, I may have my settings slightly higher than last time so I'm blaming myself for that.

Planet Explorers Bugs / [DEV MARKED] <Solved> a0.6 Error on Launch
« on: July 08, 2013, 04:23:30 AM »
Alright I took a screenshot as it's what I see after starting the game from the launcher. For more information I am running Windows 8 64bit, the game is in D:\Games\Planet Explorers\, left as is after extracted from the .zip in the torrent. I have activated the game successfully too.

My system spec is
4GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 7950
AMD FX-8350 8-Core

Not sure what could be the problem. Probably me just missing something blatantly obvious.

Edit: Nevermind, I know what was wrong, it's my own fault and I seriously feel very stupid about how obvious it really was.

Planet Explorers General Discussion / The New Launcher

I'd just like to point out how damn pretty I think the launcher is:

Almost all of the previous versions have had torrents for them I think, it is definitely legit. I have never had a torrent give me a virus, if anything there is less risk through torrents than downloading through your browser. Just keep in mind you have to use the key emailed to you to activate it, if you have backed the game already anyway, if you haven't got an email yet then it should be through soon, they have a lot to send out and it takes a while for them all to be sent.

Planet Explorers General Discussion / Re: Alpha 0.6 soon?
« on: July 08, 2013, 12:31:51 AM »
Nice, shame I don't have my key yet, panicked thinking I had missed an hour or two of playing since I had my email client closed while watching a movie (I'd rather avoid having Mr T. shout "Mail mother f*****r" while watching a horror :P). Thanks for making the torrent file public so we can get it downloaded even if we don't have the email yet though, makes the wait less painful.

Planet Explorers General Discussion / Re: language
« on: July 07, 2013, 10:10:20 PM »
Language translations are impractical at such an early stage, many things could need re-written too often, fan translations are a little risky as they could potentially say anything, they could be completely wrong for all the devs know. Translating the game is more of a beta step, the alpha is more about getting the base game mechanics and gameplay down and they have already went beyond that by adding a story to it, the best you can do is work on the translating it by yourself for now and then when they have the time to do it they can get it done quicker. You could use this thread to collect fan translating, when someone translates what they can find in the game currently they can upload a file with the English alongside whatever language they translated it into.

Hello, I have a problem... No matter how many times i am trying to download the game after opening all i can click on is multiplayer but there is no single player... Also once i click on multiplayer i cannot register or play at all, please help i don't understand what is going on...

Download 0.53 to play singleplayer. You downloaded 0.55 which is multiplayer only, and you should have posted the problem in a new topic as it had nothing to do with anything previously discussed in this topic. I'm not trying to sound mean by the way, just informing you.

-snip-

Oh, you mean their original release date of "Fall of 2012"?
Or how their daily updates didn't start until June 11th?   13 days of daily updates that is almost all this *We added new recipes.  We added new items.  We added new recipes, We added new guns.*

Just adding inventory to an item.  Keep in mind, to code a new sword into terraria is simple as you just have to create a Pixel base, copy the code and change Name, Hit Size, Hit Distance, Hit Damage, and a few other things.  To add in 30 swords to a mod woudl take a day for a modder who had 30 pixel swords to work with.  For these guys who have pixel artists who create the things ahead of time, adding in most of the items and recipes aren't actually difficult.  It's just busy work.

If you look, they havn't really shown any MAJOR coding things within the past 6 months.  All the major coding things people wanted like Water Physiques were done early.  This game is in that phase.  So we'll get updates when we get them.  However, later in the builds when its just moderate tweeking to things, we'll likely get more and faster updates.

Just like to point out their daily updates have been going since about May 10th, not June 11th and that they have talked about a few semi-major things being added (Direct 3D support being the latest I think), they seem to be adding most in the area of AI behaviour and npc villages lately, other than the crafting recipes (which appear to be done, or close to being done) they have just been adding the intro cinematics so it looks like they are very close to beta if they are at that stage since it's more polish than actual game mechanics.
